New Website Have A Look

So basically when I was doing my HND we had a brief to create a website for ourselves, overall I wasn’t happy with this at all so I have taken it upon myself to create myself a more professional site, in which possible clients etc. can contact me on and look into myself abit more.

I will be updating this site all the time and it isn’t 100% yet, I have a lot more planned.

So if you get a chance have a look on: http://alexrichardson93.wix.com/alexrichardsondesign

Any questions or know how contact me on either the new site or via here!

Thanks

Fonts

When I was up in London for my School trip we had to take some photographs of different Typography along the “Strand”, I took photo’s of shop signs, lamp-post, telephone boxes etc and I though that it would be really nice to use or at least see how some of these fonts would look on my rough poster designs.

For my poster I really want it to have a bold, old-looking piece of typography which could still be legible enough for people to quickly read, this personal criteria made it a bit easier to choose what fonts I would take further in my design process. Before trying to trace or recreate each font I wanted to see if I could find the same or a very similar font on my computer.

I found a font on “Microsoft Word” that looks nearly exactly like this piece of typography from London called “Bell MT”, I would put some text up of it but the theme I’m using for my Blog Wont allow me. But this is more of a personal reference for me later in my project.

This was amazing to see in personal the craftsmanship on this shop sign, but before that the font really caught my eye because it looked old because of the sign and the whole decor of the shop, this really got me thinking about how everything on a good poster has to tie in with each other and you can’t have different style components every were because they will clash with each other.

I found that “Imprint MT Shadow” is the closest font I could find to this sign.

The font I could find to this was “Engravers MT”, but with this font I would have to change the spacing between each letter because it’s to large to recreate this font.

These were my favourite fonts from my trip to London, I did have some more but I don’t feel they would be suitable for my poster because there either to bland or to elaborate I’m looking for a font in the middle.
