I have heard of Adobe In design before but I have never actually used it so this lesson our teacher gave us a basic step by step demonstration on how to create a very basic 2 page magazine spread with titles and images.
First we had to create a new blank document with borders and a page splitter.
Now for the document to be used as a magazine 2 page spread we had to go onto the page layers and drag down a copy of the first original page, once this was done a new page pops up next to the first one creating a 2 page spread layout.
This magazine is a bit different to most because it has an image for the background behind the forward text, I simply needed to insert the saved image in and adjust the size to fit the document, the reason I have made the image slightly larger than the canvas is because when printing it sometimes has a white border around the edge of the print out and in doing this it prevents it.
Next I inserted a text box by selecting the text box option on the tool bar, I typed in the article theoretical name and adjusted its size, type face and colour according to my personal preferences.
Our teacher showed us a nice feature on In Design which allows the designer to insert filler text onto a document, this feature allows a designer to fill up a design to show a client or a boss the way the document/design will look with a full amount of text in it.
Now because the text boxes were created when the document was being made, it allows me to drag the filler text right down and across the whole double page spread because they are linked together, this would come in handy instead of manually inserting text into each box.
Now that the basics have been done he showed us how to insert a large capital letter at the being of the text and the he also showed us how to get our text to wrap around or fit to an object by using the pen tool and creating the shape into a clipping path.
