New Website Have A Look

So basically when I was doing my HND we had a brief to create a website for ourselves, overall I wasn’t happy with this at all so I have taken it upon myself to create myself a more professional site, in which possible clients etc. can contact me on and look into myself abit more.

I will be updating this site all the time and it isn’t 100% yet, I have a lot more planned.

So if you get a chance have a look on: http://alexrichardson93.wix.com/alexrichardsondesign

Any questions or know how contact me on either the new site or via here!

Thanks

Biker Front Cover Adobe In Design

After my initial Adobe In Design introduction we were set to create a basic front cover using some clever quick and easy techniques that could make design look a lot more professional and well though out that a basic usual design.

First in Photoshop I opened up the image that I was going to use to create a clipping path around my portrait figure, Using what I have previously learnt in my introductory sessions to the Adobe design programs, I did this because I want my text to be overlapped by the figure, After doing this I had to save the image as a “Photoshop esp?” which allowed the image to keep its properties that I have just done to it.

In Adobe In Design I create a new black document and insert to edited image with the clipping path that I made in Photoshop.

Because of what I have done previously in Photoshop I can allow the clipping path to work but first In have to rename the layer and apply the clipping path which is in the layers properties in the layer box on the right hand side.

After using the clipping path option what wasn’t in the clipping path was removed and wat was, was left behind.

I drew a rectangle using the shape tool on the tool bar and coloured it a colour and pushed it to the back of the document because I didn’t want the background to be just plain white, I chose grey because it contrasted nicely with the already black and white image.

Using a text box I inserted a title and pushed it back to the middle which just so happen to be exactly where I wanted it to be, I coloured the text a turquoise colour because It contrasted very nicely with the grey and dark design so far.

To finish this quickly done design I inserted some more suitable text and choose some decent colour for them which was done by me knowing what colours work together well because of my years doing Art, I had to change some of the letter spacing on the text because certain spaces between letters were very large and unsightly but after sorting it all out I am very happy with this magazine front cover design even though it only took me 45 mins to complete and with my own designs I will take more care and though into it.

Adobe In Design Magazine Spread Basics

I have heard of Adobe In design before but I have never actually used it so this lesson our teacher gave us a basic step by step demonstration on how to create a very basic 2 page magazine spread with titles and images.

First we had to create a new blank document with borders and a page splitter.

Now for the document to be used as a magazine 2 page spread we had to go onto the page layers and drag down a copy of the first original page, once this was done a new page pops up next to the first one creating a 2 page spread layout.

This magazine is a bit different to most because it has an image for the background behind the forward text, I simply needed to insert the saved image in and adjust the size to fit the document, the reason I have made the image slightly larger than the canvas is because when printing it sometimes has a white border around the edge of the print out and in doing this it prevents it.

Next I inserted a text box by selecting the text box option on the tool bar, I typed in the article theoretical name and adjusted its size, type face and colour according to my personal preferences.

Our teacher showed us a nice feature on In Design which allows the designer to insert filler text onto a document, this feature allows a designer to fill up a design to show a client or a boss the way the document/design will look with a full amount of text in it.

Now because the text boxes were created when the document was being made, it allows me to drag the filler text right down and across the whole double page spread because they are linked together, this would come in handy instead of manually inserting text into each box.

Now that the basics have been done he showed us how to insert a large capital letter at the being of the text and the he also showed us how to get our text to wrap around or fit to an object by using the pen tool and creating the shape into a clipping path.
